Retirement and the years that follow can bring remarkable freedom and real challenges. Whether you’re adjusting to life after work, navigating a move or downsizing, coping with loss or loneliness, managing new health realities or stepping into a caretaking role, change can feel overwhelming even when it’s expected. This course introduces Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a practical, evidence-based approach that helps people increase psychological flexibility—a superpower for building resilience.

Kate Brody Nooner, Ph.D., ABPP, is a full professor of psychology and senior associate dean at the College of Science and Engineering at UNCW. She also maintains a part-time private practice providing evidence-based psychotherapeutic support for adults navigating life’s ongoing changes.
