This introduction to Vietnam is for travelers who want to make the most of their time in the country. The course begins with an overview of Vietnamese culture and society, followed by a session featuring highlights from Vietnam’s long history. Finally, we discuss the challenges that a once impoverished, war-torn country now faces as the fastest-growing economy in East Asia.

Ginger R. Davis specializes in the Cold War era, specifically Vietnam. She received a Fulbright to complete her dissertation research in Hanoi, pursued intensive language training and lived in the country for more than ten years.
