This course is for travelers preparing to experience Italy in person or hoping to do so. Rather than focusing on phrasebook Italian, we explore how the language reflects the country’s regional identities, social rituals and ways of thinking. Each session pairs practical expressions with the cultural context that gives them meaning, helping participants move through Italy with greater confidence and deeper understanding.
Teresa Lara Pugliese is the founder of Italian by Lara, where she teaches Italian to English-speaking adults through the novels, films and paintings that shape the country. She holds a Ph.D. in humanities and degrees in communications, performing arts, and film and media studies.
