« back to classes page

North Carolina played a pivotal role in the war for American independence, and the lower Cape Fear played an essential part in the war effort on both sides. We discuss the Stamp Act crisis of 1765-1766, the Regulator Rebellion of the 1770s, the first Patriot victory of the war at Moores Creek in 1776 and the British occupation of Wilmington in 1781.

Historian and author Jack E. Fryar Jr. brings to life the fight for independence as it happened in southeastern North Carolina. He is the author or editor of 32 books on North Carolina and Cape Fear history. He is the owner and publisher of Dram Tree Books and teaches high school history. For more on Jack and the books he has produced, go to www.dramtreebooks.com.
