Join us for a special celebration of 250 years of Jane Austen, with guest speaker Inger S. B. Brodey, Ph.D., professor of English and Comparative Literature at UNC-Chapel Hill and an internationally recognized Jane Austen scholar. Brodey’s most recent book, Jane Austen and the Price of Happiness (2024), explores how Austen’s novels challenge cultural assumptions about romance, marriage, and happiness. Her work bridges literary history and public humanities through projects such as Jane Austen’s Desk and the Jane Austen Summer Program. Whether you are a devoted Austen fan or simply curious, enjoy an engaging tribute to one of literature’s most beloved voices. Co-sponsored by the UNCW Department of English and the UNCW Library.
