Brodey, Ph.D., professor of English and Comparative Literature at UNC-Chapel Hill and an internationally recognized Jane Austen scholar. Brodey’s most recent book, Jane Austen and the Price of Happiness (2024), explores how Austen’s novels challenge cultural assumptions about romance, marriage, and happiness. Her work bridges literary history and public humanities through projects such as Jane Austen’s Desk and the Jane Austen Summer Program.
