« back to classes page

This class is designed to spark participants’ appreciation of poetry. The course includes selections from modern poets such as Ross Gay, Diane Seuss and Matthew Olzmann. We learn and name the craft techniques and choices each poet makes and consider the effects on their poems. Each session concludes with an opportunity to try your hand at writing poetry in imitation of or inspired by these works.

Jules Miller holds an MFA in poetry. His work, often exploring the intersections between nature, everyday life and family, has appeared in many publications, including Quarterly West. Miller was a semifinalist for the Jane Underwood Poetry Prize.
