Japanese Cultural Experiences

Explore Japanese culture in this interactive course. Participants learn origami, the traditional art of paper folding, and experience Japanese calligraphy, which expresses beauty through brush and ink. The course also offers an introduction to Sado (the tea ceremony), where participants can enjoy preparing and tasting matcha.  

Kana Sahashi has been a Japan Outreach Initiative coordinator at UNCW since August 2025. She promotes Japanese culture through workshops and activities in order to enhance understanding and awareness about Japan in the U.S. She is originally from Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
