« back to classes page

This course is a gentle but technical introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) from an anxiously optimistic technologist’s perspective. It covers what AI is, including technologies, measurements and practices, and distinguishes it from what AI is not. The course presents AI’s risks and rewards, including technical, ethical and catastrophic concerns, and invites exchange and discussion. The presentation also demonstrates practices for maximizing AI’s potential, like prompting, using AI assistants and creating technical safeguards.

Ian Oeschger is a senior solution architect at IBM, currently working in the IBM CIO organization on knowledge management products for the enterprise. He has published and presented on IBM Watson, AI, open source and software development.
