Lifelong Learning across Generations

What can members of a generation born after 9/11, the advent of the smartphone, and the emergence of social media teach a generation that lived through The Cold War, Vietnam and the Civil Rights Movement — and vice versa? How do the greatest hopes and deepest fears of one generation differ from those of the other, and how are they the same? This course brings together UNCW Honors College undergraduates and OLLI lifelong learners to explore these questions. Each session addresses one of a variety of topics such as relationships, aging or life experiences. The only rule is that participants leave their assumptions at the door. Enrollment is limited.

David E. Weber is an associate professor of applied organizational communication at UNCW. Prior to entering academia, he spent 25 years in corporate organizational development, including six years as an expat in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
