Canada, Mexico and the United States are slated to co-host the 2026 World Cup. This series includes a review of soccer basics, key moments in World Cup history, the political impact of soccer around the world, controversies surrounding FIFA, and how to best experience the 2026 World Cup tournament. Readings from popular press and selected book chapters provide background for each week’s session. Experts share their passion for the game and help participants better understand what all the excitement is about.

Bill Bolduc, a professor emeritus in UNCW’s Department of Communications Studies, is a long-time soccer fan, former recreational coach and PA announcer for UNCW men’s and women’s varsity soccer programs.
