Women Aging with Grace and Power, a theatrical tribute to later life, was created and staged in 2024 by Patricia Comeaux, Ph.D. and Frank Trimble, M.S. of UNCW’s Department of Communication Studies. Many of the performers, some of whom wrote sections of the play, were OLLI members. This course invites students to read and discuss excerpts of the original script, write new sections reflecting their own experiences and, on a volunteer basis, read and perform segments in class.

Barbara Waxman was a professor of English at UNCW for 32 years. A highlight of 2024 was her participation in Women Aging with Grace and Power. Sherrod Sturrock moved to Wilmington after retiring in 2019 as director of the Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons, Maryland. Participating in Women Aging with Grace and Power was a meaningful part of her transition to retirement in a new home.
