For seafaring societies, the ocean is both a rich source of gifts, and a place where humans encounter the alien, deadly and unknown. We explore mythic deities and monsters, seascapes and islands, and voyages and encounters, from three diverse cultures: Ancient Greek, Norse and Maori. Finally, we investigate our own tales of the ocean’s mystery, from ghost ships to the Bermuda Triangle and beyond.
