20th-century French writer Alain-Fournier only wrote one short novel, Le Grand Meaulnes. Considered one of the best 20th century novels in French literature, it is both mysterious and magical, evocative of the quixotic worlds of adolescent longing. Julian Barnes described it as "one of the last explosions of late Romanticism." Students should come prepared to discuss the novel—this is a participatory course! Enrollment is limited. Note: The book is not provided. Students will receive an email with information about where to find it once the class is filled.
