The participants in this course read and discuss two plays by Irish playwrights, both set in the 1930s: Dancing at Lughnasa and The Cripple of Inishmaan. Through dynamic reading and stimulating conversations, we explore familial relationships, cultural values/biases and human behavior. We spend time comparing and contrasting the two depictions of life in rural Ireland during this period in history. No previous acting experience is required, only a fairly loud speaking voice. Enrollment is limited to 12 people. Note: Scripts are not provided; participants must bring their own. The instructor will send an email about where to buy them once the class is filled.
