Join us for an inspiring and thought-provoking luncheon with Benjamin David, CEO of the New Hanover County Community Justice Center, a one-stop hub for hope, healing and justice for survivors of violent crime in our region. Drawing on two decades as the elected District Attorney for New Hanover and Pender Counties, David will explore how trauma-informed practices not only uphold the constitutional rights of victims but also help prevent future crime and build stronger, safer communities.?
A lifelong advocate for community-based justice, David earned his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law. He began his legal career in trademark litigation before joining the Sixth District, where he was elected District Attorney in 2004. Over five terms, he prioritized community-based prosecution and criminal justice reform. He also helped launch Wilmington’s Blue-Ribbon Commission on Youth Violence. He is the author of Crime and Community in the Cape Fear (Cognella, 2020) and teaches at UNCW.?
