This course is based on the works and writers published in the collection Voices of Freedom: Contemporary Writing from Ukraine (2022) by editors Kateryna Kazimirova and Daryna Anastasieva. We begin with an introduction to Ukraine’s rich literary landscape over the past fifty years and explore its distinct literary tradition through its most prominent and promising writers. Drawing connections to historical and current events, the course provides a deeper understanding of Ukraine, its people and their fight for freedom.
