This series explores the origins, expansion and global consequences of the American Revolution. Through case studies that trace revolutionary movements, political ideas and international conflicts across the Atlantic world and beyond, UNCW historians examine how the American Revolution shaped—and was shaped by—global struggles over empire, liberty and sovereignty. Topics covered include the imperial crisis with Great Britain, as well as the French and Haitian Revolutions. These classes are part of the Sherman Emerging Scholar Lecture Series, and the final session is the Sherman Lecture panel discussion. The class is hosted by Professor David Houpt, Ph.D. and includes lectures from UNCW faculty members Lynn Mollenauer, Ph.D., Kimberly Sherman, Ph.D. and Eva Mehl, Ph.D.
