Over his extensive filmmaking career, Alfred Hitchcock directed more than 52 films, some of which are relatively overlooked. This course focuses on his lesser-known films, exploring recurrent themes, history and aesthetic value. Students receive links to films to screen on their own and topics to contemplate. Films may include Foreign Correspondent, Spellbound, I Confess, Strangers on a Train, Rope and Frenzy.
Peyton Holland graduated with an M.A. in film studies from UNCW. He has taught courses on the aesthetics of monster movies and served as a teaching assistant for introductory courses on film aesthetics and world cinema.
