How to Be Your Own Patient Advocate

This course shares the knowledge and skills participants need to be effective advocates for themselves and family members in acute care settings. The course includes didactic and role-play activities to cover three main topics: how to navigate the emergency room and hospital admission; the hospital stay; and discharge and post-discharge planning 

Jon Martell is a retired physician and associate professor of medicine at the University of Hawaii School of Medicine. He is currently on the board of Cape Fear Clinic. Linnea Wiseman is the owner of Wiseman Patient Advocacy. Her passion is  ensuring patients have the highest quality of care possible.
