Through the focused practice of observational drawing, gain basic skills needed to break subject matter down into easily rendered compositions. Using traditional materials and techniques, explore expressive mark-making and gain confidence in drawing what you see. Space is limited to 12 participants.

Instructor will introduce supplies the first day of class and bring materials to share throughout. Here is a sample supply list:

Vine or willow charcoal (soft)
Compressed charcoal (soft)
Charcoal pencil (soft)
Kneaded eraser
Soap eraser
Variety of drawing pencils (must include soft leads – 2B, 4B, 6B)
18 x 24” all-purpose drawing pad or newsprint

Students are encouraged to bring any studio drawing supplies they may have on hand. Inexpensive kits with the above supplies can often be found in department or craft stores. Dickblick.com is an option for online purchase.
